Hackberry Hill is one of Arvada's North subdivisions, located to the east of Wadsworth Boulevard and the Indian Tree Golf Course, offering easy access to all parts of the Denver Metro area. According to Wikipedia, here is how Hackberry Hill received its name: "At the top of a hill was the site of a lone hackberry tree which served as a landmark to early explorers and settlers in the region. The tree was unusual, both for its location, since the only other scattered trees in the area grew next to water, and because hackberry trees were not native to the region. As a result, there were a variety of stories to explain the origin of the tree, including a Native American legend that a great chief had been buried there along with a medicine bag containing hackberry seeds." Hackberry Hill Elementary School is one of the top-rated elementary schools for both Jefferson County and the State of Colorado. The School offers Elementary level Spanish class, Orchestra and Chess Clubs, and the Gifted and Talented programs are superior in content. This neighborhood school might be an excellent choice for parents wanting more out of a school for their children. Hackberry Hill Park, the elementary and middle school are all close-knit and within walking distance to the majority of the community.
